5 WEEK STAINED GLASS WORKSHOP In this 5 week workshop, you will learn how to create a stained glass project from start to finish. Students will select a design from the pattern books provided.
Instructor Name: MARTIN “MARTY” ENGELBRECHT Marty is a self-taught glazier and has been working with stained glass off and on for over 40 years. He has taught stained glass to church groups and to adult education students at a community college.
Day one: A bit about the history, the art and the kinds of glass. Students will practice cutting glass scraps and select a pattern for their project.
Day two: Students will cut out stained glass pieces.
Day three: Students will smooth glass pieces with a diamond bitted grinder.
Day four: Students will wrap each stained glass piece with copper foil.
Day five: Students will solder their project. After a final cleaning, they will take the completed panel home to hang.
Cost to Members: $100.00 Cost to Non-members: $120.00 All fees must be paid directly to UVAL. Class Size: Minimum 4 Maximum 10 Day/Days: JULY 14, 21, 28 & AUGUST 4 AND 11 (5 successive Saturdays) Time/Times: 9 a.m. - noon Materials provided for participants: All materials supplied. Students can purchase glass at the end of the workshop for future projects.
